In vitro salinity stress mediates grass pea genotypes' (Lathyrus sativus L.) responses

چکیده

This study was carried out to determine the tolerance of grass pea genotypes salinity stress at callus and seedling stages under in vitro conditions. The calli seedlings six selected tolerant based on primary screening field were separately exposed treatments (0, 125 mM) vitro. Salinity imposed with NaCl during culture, it significantly affected all traits. Genotype Iran had lowest dry weight therefore more sensitive stress. According indices for seedlings, genotype Greece-III characterized as high-yield relatively high?salt-tolerant genotype. size, RWC, RGR, callogenesis index. Calli fresh weights not by treatments. For weight, highest mean; mean belonged Greece-I. showed that values Greece-III, which high yield stability so reasonable tolerance. Cluster analysis divided into two separate groups. first cluster consisted Iran, Greece-II, genotypes, second Bangladesh, Canada, Greece-I genotypes. potentially separated terms weight. Grass able survive mM salinity. did affect weights, but its effect remarkable (55% less than control). Therefore, reasonably tolerant. present suggests can conditions stages.

Variation and Association Analysis in Grass Pea (lathyrus Sativus L.)

The study was conducted on 50 landrace populations of grass pea at Adet Research Center, Ethiopia, using Randomised Complete Block Design in three replications to determine morphological variability and character associations. Evaluations were made on plant and yield characters from eight plants tagged randomly from each plot. The data were subjected to Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), heritabilit...

Efficient intergeneric fusion of pea (Pisum sativum L.) and grass pea (Lathyrus sativus L.) protoplasts.

Large numbers of viable protoplasts of pea (Pisum sativum) and grass pea (Lathyrus sativus) were efficiently and reproducibly obtained and, for the first time, fused. Different procedures for fusion were compared, based either on electrofusion (750, 1000, 1250 or 1500 V cm(-1)), or on the use of macro or micromethods with a polyethylene glycol (PEG 6000 or PEG 1540), or a glycine/high pH soluti...

Influence of heat stress on genome of grass pea (Lathyrus sativus L.).

Meiosis is an event of high evolutionary stability that culminates in a reduction of chromosome number. Several abiotic environmental factors such as heat may cause anomalies at genetic level that ultimately impair fertility of the plant. In the present study, the effect of heat stress on various morphological and cytological parameters has been studied in Lathyrus sativus. The most interesting...

L-Homoarginine Accumulation in Grass Pea (Lathyrus sativus L.) Dry Seeds. A Preliminary Survey

Grass pea (Lathyrus sativus L.) has great agronomic potential as grain and forage legume, and presently is considered as a model crop for sustainable agriculture. However, the development into an important food legume has been hindered by the presence of the neurotoxic amino acid β-N-Oxalyl-α, β-diaminopropionic acid (β-ODAP). Recent studies reported that homoarginine (Har) can counteract this ...
